If you attempt to play music in your car, from a USB drive, the car's stereo may not be able to play anything, because the files are stored incorrectly. If you want to make sure that you won't encounter this issue, before going on a long trip, you can use SyncPlaylist to synchronize playlists and audio files to a USB thumb drive. The procedure is straightforward and it can be completed even by novice users.

Unless you want to make a donation, you don't have to pay for this application. The setup file is only 184 KB, so you can download and install SyncPlaylist in less than a minute.

The application works with playlist files created by Windows Media Player. To synchronize one or more playlists, it is sufficient to specify a source and a destination on the application's user interface. The software can detect your existing playlists in Windows Media Player and you can select them one by one or browse for the files. When you are done synchronizing your playlists, you will be able to play your media files in any car, including vehicles with Sync Technology.

Before you start the synchronization process, you may tick a few options, in the lower left corner of the interface. Depending on your selection, the software will place a copy of itself on the USB drive, for portability, it will skip tracks if they already exist in the destination folder and remove previously created playlists from the thumb drive. You can also set it to sort your media files in a numerical order.

If you have one or more playlists and media files on a USB drive, SyncPlaylist can play them, using Windows Media player. A more important feature is the application's backward synchronization capability. Instead of copying playlists from Windows Media Player to a USB drive, you can use the SyncBack feature to copy them from the removable drive to Windows Media Player. In other words, you can use SyncPlaylist as a backup utility as well.

Pros

SyncPlaylist is capable of copying playlists and media files to a USB drive, in a correct manner, so you can play your music in your car. You just need to specify a source and a destination and tick one or more options, if you want to make a few adjustments. The software can also synchronize playlists and media files in both directions.

Cons

The application works exclusively with Windows Media Player. SyncPlaylist makes it possible to play media files from USB drives, in any car that has a USB input port.
